Where is tutoring in my unit?

Tutoring for all subjects is held in the Academic Services Center for each unit. Look for tutors on duty near the tables.

What is the Residence Hall Tutoring Program?

Academic Service Center Tutors provide drop-in tutorial services for students living in UC Berkeley's Residence Halls. During regularly scheduled evening shifts, a team of Academic Service Center Tutors assist residents with their coursework and academic assignments, and promote student success. Most tutors work in one of the following five subject areas: chemistry, mathematics, physics, statistics/economics, or writing. Throughout the year, tutors conduct midterm and final exam reviews and other programs as necessary in the residence halls.

How does the program work?

Tutoring is offered on a drop-in basis in fundamental courses covering areas of mathematics, chemistry, physics and writing. Tutoring is offered Sunday-Thursday between 8pm-10pm. Tutoring begins the 2nd or 3rd week of each semester and continues through dead week.

Who are the tutors?

Our tutoring staff is made up of UC Berkeley undergraduate and graduate students.

Which courses are normally covered by the tutoring program?

Tutoring for the following courses is usually offered:

• Math 1A, 1B, 16A, 16B, 53, 54
• Physics 7A, 7B, 8A, 8B
• Chemistry 1A, 3A, 3B
• Writing: Reading & Composition A and B; courses in English, Comp Lit, Rhetoric, Social Sciences, etc. that require papers.
